Remington 1100 vs 11-87 vs ???

As some of you may know, Galyan's has just been purchased and will no longer be carrying firearms. They are clearing everything out and I'm headed over there tomorrow to see what kind of deals are to be had.

I want to get my ducks in a row in case there's something I can't pass up. Can someone tell me cogently what the differences are between the 1100 and 11-87, and possibly any other semi-autos out there in 12ga in the under $500-600 price range?

Thanks in advance

Main difference i can think of is that the 11-87 has a 3 (or even 3.5) inch chamber, whereas the 1100 has a 2 3/4 inch chamber. I don't think there is a whole lot of difference between them. I love my 11-87, and a guy i know has an 1100 which has functioned flawlessly for over 30 years.
If you get one and put a lot of rounds through it, be sure to keep the gas ports clean. . . .i saw one failing to eject target loads with a short, compensated barrel.

The only thing i don't like is that the bolt is closed by pressing a button below the chamber, which you must also depress while loading a cartridge. This can be a little bit awkward with one hand, but practice helps. I don't think its a huge issue . . .but it is something to think about.

I like the beretta 391's, as well. Easier to load (than 11-87), but since it isn't left hand, it's not for me.

I just bought an 11-87 Premier LC last week, and shot up two boxes of skeet Sunday. So far, so good. I have never owned an 1100, but I do have an old 11-48, and the 11-87 is a much better gun. To my knowledge, the 11-87 is a more modern design than the 1100, and a little more comfotable to shoot. Other than that, I don't really know what the internal difference is. Maybe someone could tell us. Also, what is involed with cleaning the gas ports?
