What's the cheapest source for .308 fmj bullets?

I have a friend who's getting into reloading for a FAL .308 and he's looking for an economical source for .308 fmj. The only ones I know of are the 180 grain Sierra's at 13.99 per box, there's got to be some cheaper stuff out there. Thanks.
I thoroughly disapprove of duels. I consider them unwise and I know they are dangerous. Also, sinful. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet retired spot and kill him.

Get a copy of Shotgun News and check in there. There's always somebody selling surplus military bullets at good prices.

Cheaper Jacketed bullets

Ask around for someone who lives near any bullet factories like Sierra. I used to buy their machine setting up bullets as rejects by the pound and their rejects have won matches.

See if there is anyone who could send you some.

Also there are places in Nevada that pop old GI ammo and the bullets go to local scrap yards.

Surplus / Pulled: Hi Tech $30/500

And Midway is having a sale on some Sierra's.

For a typical FAL, I wouldn't spend more than 10 cents for the bullet - which leads to the cheap pulled 147 grain variety.

Jeff Bartlett advertises in Shotgun News and I think he has pulled 152 grain FMJs for $55 per thousand. His website is
There are other people advertising the same, or similar, bullets for around the same price.
