Alleged Haitian torturer found working at Disney World

MIAMI - A former Haitian general allegedly tied to human rights violations in his homeland is alive and well in Orlando, Florida, where he has been working for Walt Disney World, Newsweek magazine reported.

Maj. Gen. Jean-Claude Duperval is accused of having participated in the Raboteau massacre, in Gonaives, 150 kilometers (93 miles) north of Port-au-Prince, on April 22, 1994, under the military regime of coup-leader Raoul Cedras.

Duperval, 55, disappeared after the fall of the Cedras regime in September 1994 and at some point obtained permission to reside and work in the United States, Newsweek said.

In 1997, a Haitian judge ordered the arrest of Duperval, Cedras and eight other high-ranking military officers on charges of murder, torture and other crimes related to the Raboteau killings. In a telephone interview, Duperval, a father of five, said he wanted to maintain his privacy, raise his children and put the past behind him.

He also refused to offer any details about his job at Walt Disney World, Newsweek reported.
Disney spokesman Bill Warren said Duperval was hired in 1997 but was no longer with the company as of April 12.

The company was unaware of the former major general's background at the time he was hired, Warren added.

Duperval is one of some 200 alleged torturers living in Florida and 1,000 living in the entire United States, said Richard Krieger, president of the International Educational Missions (IEM).

Krieger, a former State Department employee, said Florida is a favorite haven for torturers from Latin America and the rest of the world.

Krieger said he had given the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) Duperval's address and telephone number in Orlando.

Two years ago, the INS began detaining and deporting individuals accused of torture abroad. According to an INS spokesperson, Duperval obtained immigration benefits under the Haitian Refugee Immigration Fairness Act, but the INS is challenging that decision, Newsweek reported.

Obviously that's what INS is doing....remember that they sent the renewal student visas six months after the pilots attending the school in Florida had flown planes into the WTC.....damn o'mighty...if INS didn't skin and eviscerate the idiots who allowed that to happen....oh crap, don't get me started here

After standing in the lines for the attractions at Disney World and paying out the *** for stuff, I'd say that the Disney Empire was a natural for him.
