Beretta MOD 100 7.65 6" bbl

Not listed in blue book that I can find.

Sounds much like the MOD 71 but chambered for 32 rather than 22, with adjustable sights and front of slide milled out where front sight would normally be.

Alloy frame, and thus seems like it would make a good field gun. Ball should take small game without excessive meat loss, hollowpoints take care of defensive much like 38 spl rnl.

Anyone know when, what for, and why made? Value?

Rusty, your guess is correct! The Beretta Model 100 is the same as the Beretta Model 70 or Beretta Puma. The Model 100 & Puma designations were used in the USA only. The Model 70 was manufactured from about 1958-1985 with either a 3.5" or 6" barrel. As you stated, yours has an alloy frame ( the steel framed version was chambered in .380 ACP and known as the Cougar), probably with a blued finish, checkered plastic grips and an 8-shot magazine. In excellent condition a Model 70 could be worth about $180-$215. Hope this helps!
