300 yards, supported and unsupported, with iron sites, military ammo, on man sized silhouettes pop-up targets for 24 years.
With a 1/7 twist and 62gr ammo, factory ammo and 1-10X scope a 12" gong is easy.

Shot out to 600m, open sights in the Army as well. I could hit the reactive target 8/9 out of 10 times with 19 year old eyes. No idea what my groups were, but I could get the projectile there.

Roger that. It's probably my favorite (M21) "rifle".

I doubt you'd stabilize a 77 gr bullet with a 1 in 9 twist. A 1 in 9 works fine with 69 gr bullets.
I found Varget worked best for me with a 1 in 9 twist 16 in Hbar. With a 1 in 8 twist and 75 to 77 gr bullets,RE-15 was the best I found. The heaviest expanding varmint bullet I found was the 60 gr Varmint Ballistic Tip. Benchmark worked very well with this bullet in a 1 in 9 |
