Target .45 Colt Loads?

I'm looking for the best loads for target practice with my Cimarron Model "P". My goal is maximum accuracy while keeping a low pressure. Right now I'm using 250 gr. leadheads over about 9.5 gr. of Accurate No. 5. Is Unique better?

In my Rugers, I've had very good luck with 200 grain SWC bullets and 7.2 grains Bullseye.

Fairly soft shooting and has been accurate in everything I've tried it on.

I’ve used 5.2 grains of Titegroup and 4.2 grains of Clays with 250 grain lead bullets. Both shoot nicely out of my Ruger Blackhawk, If I had to chose between the two, I’d go with Titegroup – it seems a bit more consistent.

I have had results that were very good with Unique. I think 8.5 grains for a light load with a 255 gr. bullet. No leading at all.

Suggest Bullseye, TiteGroup, or Universal Clays, TiteGroup as first choice.....finish using Redding Profile Crimp die.

Is Unique better? It could be. I have had great luck with 8gr of Unique under a 250gr RNFP out of my Colt SAA. Lately I have been messing with TiteGroup and I like it too. It burns cleaner and it meters more consistently in my 550. Actually I should say that my Rossi 92 prefers the TiteGroup but I get slightly better groups out of the Colt when I use Unique. I have used Unique for so long that it is easy to recall how much I use, but I can't seem to recall exactly how much TG I use. The difference in the Colt's groups is negligible for the type of shooting I do so I will be sticking with TG for a while. Of course, Unique will always have a place on my bench!

Might give Universal Clays a try. Easy-metering very-clean-burning almost-the-exact-same-burn-rate alternative to Unique.

And really good. I've retired Unique.
