Hello to all.
This is my first thread post, but I've been reading TFL for months. I got to shoot my first USPSA based match. I used a 92FS had some fun & already met some people with lots of advice. My question is would it be better to lighten the stock trigger weight of use a heavier trigger weight for any timing improvement? Hope I'm not sounding ignorant. Thanks for any advise. PS the only other shooting matches I've done is with the black powder group at our range. I've always liked the help and advice from fellow shooters of any category.

I'm new to the shooting sports as well, but I guarantee you'll get both answers, yes lighten, and no, go with the stock trigger pull. Personally, I had my XD lightened before I started. I practiced at that weight and competed at that weight. Did it help, probably not, because many other skills come into play as well. So, IMHO, it's a personal decision on your part. Let's be honest, it certainly is not going to hurt if the trigger pull is lightened. Just don't go too low. Mine is 3.5#.

A trigger job will definately help. So will better sights. With the Berretta 92 your kind of limited in both departments. I would shoot the gun as is until you get to the point where it is the gun that's holding you back. Then upgrade to a better gun. At that time you will also know what that gun would be too.

the thing with doing triggers is sometimes you give up reliability. light primer strikes, etc.

with the Beretta..you can certainly switch out the mainspring to the "D" spring..and that will lighten the DA pull somewhat. with the stock 92 you are limited on sights as you cannot switch out the front.

the 92 is a great place to start though..and you will be able to do well..work on your basic techniques..and maybe shoot a year with it..

the great thing about production div. is there are lot of guns to choose from and most of them are under $500.
