Wait. Where is all the shotgun ammo!
Wth... I just bought a shotgun because I wanted something that I wouldn't have to worry about ammo being scarce. Just went online to order some bulk slugs or buckshot... That's all gone too! Who's buying all this crap!

There seems to be all kinds of shotgun shells when was at the stores last, didn't check the price (I reload) do didn't check.
Of course things might have changed, I haven't been to the gun stores since Uncle Joe came out with his "Art of Self Defense" ideas.

There's plenty of shotgun ammo around here, but, like you say, not much in the way of slugs or large shot.
Maybe it's due to the surge in sales of what's considered defensive ammo.

I don't know if it is gouging by the retailer or manufacturer but Winchester Super X birdshot was priced at about 13 dollars for a twenty count box...

It isn't gouging if someone willingly pays the asking price.......if no one does, the price will drop

Tons of shotgun ammunition here (Northern VA). I picked up a bunch at Dick's (Fair Lakes) the other day. They had a bunch of target ammo, 00, slugs... everything, really.

I was at a big gunshow in Seattle area yesterday (Puyallup, WA) .....lots of ammo was available.......9mm, .22 lr, .223 rifle, shotgun shells, etc.....both in range ammo, target shells and defensive ammo ..../ but prices were way up because of all the hoarding.../ double or more - of what it was just a few months ago....and the price of handgun primers is still hovering between $ 60 - $70/1,000.....when they were around $30/1,000 in December...
Avg price on factory new 9mm 115 gr FMJ ( PMC, Federal ) was about $ 24 for a box of 50... Most of my buddies and I reload...but we're just going to wait this nonsense out...and not buy, or quit shooting, until prices come back down. We each try and keep a 6 month supply of primers and bullets on hand...and personally, by summer, I hope things return to normal. None of this ammo price gouging ...has anything to do with potential assault weapon bans...( its strictly hoarding...so we're doing it to ourselves - if we pay these prices, in my view.) |

Many are boycotting Dick's over their response to the Sandy Hook incident.
Nevertheless, basic target and field ammo is in most places. You might not find the cheapest promo stuff at the moment - you might have to step up and buy some Win AA or Remington STS loads - but if you don't reload, those empties, once-fired, are worth .05 each to a target shooter, so that knocks $1.25 off your cost |
