bluing question
I recently blued a TC Hawken barrel that was part of a kit. It turned out pretty nice, I used the oxpho=blue from Brownells, liquid form. The only thing is it now has my gun cabinet stinking of that odor. Almost a sulphur kind of smell. Is there any type of say clearcoat or sealer that might help??? thanx cw

Did you blue your barrel in your gun cabinet or does the gun cabinet smell because the barrel/gun is inside it?
If the latter, then try neutralizing the barrel again.

A little hindsight. Van's Blue is the very best and NO odor.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but will vans or oxpho-blue come back off with vinegar if you don't like it?

I have taken blueing off with wet/dry sandpaper. I think i used 400 grit. Then I hit it with 0000 steel wool.
