This is why threads like this are meaningless. There is no objective fact answer. Everything is subjective to the individual. Your criteria in not my criteria which is not the OPs criteria.

It ends up boiling down to which one do you like best....
IMHO, value is a subjective term. We agree on that. I have to disagree that threads like this are "meaningless," however. Perhaps it's because I'm a world-class overthinker, but even when I know that the decision is ultimately mine, I like knowing the opinions of others who know something about the topic. Besides, they're fun.

I wanted to trade in my XDs on a used PX4sc at a LGS, they wouldn't take it, not enough demand. They said if I was trading in a Glock, no problem. Same place did take my M&P 9 in trade on a M9A3.

Demand right now: VP9, G19, and PPQ.

At nearly or at full retail, you will be able to resell any of the above.

I doubt you could do that to an other polymer semi auto right now.

G19 in high demand? well.. maybe but if it's high demand it's also high supply.
I see used glocks and LE trade-ins deals constantly, It's not tempting to me personally but if you're looking for a glock they're not scarce by any stretch of the imagination.

I have a ton of guns and don't even particularly like Glocks. That being said it's hard to beat the value proposition of a Glock, especially the G19 when you factor everything in.....
Cost
Reliability
Known, quantified track record all over the world (LEO/MIL/competition etc.)
Durability
Size to capacity
Simplicity
Aftermarket support as well as factory support
Cost of accessories
Resale
And hey they throw in all that ugly for no extra charge to you.

There are literally scores of great guns out there today and I think the XD is one of them. I have 2, but when you put it all together it's just hard to beat Glock.

Now of course this is all cold hard facts. If you hate Glocks or can't shoot them or whatever like said there are plenty of other great options and one certainly isn't stupid for not choosing a Glock. I am just trying to give my objective opinion.

Said the guy who carries an HK.

The 2.0 will most likely be my next handgun purchase.

If I wanted something else I would probably go with the HK VP9.

The best value? Probably not. A good value? Sure it is. I can buy a Glock for $500 and if I decide somewhere along the way I want to get something different I can always get $425 for it. My used Kahrs on the other hand don't bring anything on the used market even though much of the time they are more expensive than Glock up front.
I do think Glock has the best value in night sights though...send your slide in and they'll install night sights for $57 + tax shipped back to you.

Too much personal preference involved to simply state "X is best".

I recently picked up a couple of new S&W Shield 9mm's w/night sights & 3 mags for $379 before the earlier $75 rebate.
Even more recently I picked up a couple of S&W M&P full size LE 9mm's w/night sights & 3 mags for $349 before the new 2 mags/mag loader/2 boxes of ammo deal.

There are many good deals to be had, but IMHO it's more important to find the platform/caliber that you shoot best.

I have no idea about the value of a new PX4, but XDS have sold new recently as low as $350. Glocks hold the line at about $500 on sale. Maybe that was the discrepancy in value?? A lightly used XDS would sell at $300, with little struggle. Glock 19 would be more like $460.

YOLO. I don't go for the "carry a cheap gun" philosophy, either.

I go with what feels the best and I shoot the best. If you are going to save a few bucks but not shoot as well then is it really worth it. I had a glock 19 hated it sold it as fast as I could.

I read the thread and then went back to the OP. I had the same impression of the OP both times - that you want the Glock instead and are looking for justification. My take, therefore, is that buying a pistol that isn't the one you really want is a poor value. Buying what you want is the only really wise way to spend money. Both are solid, and the prices are similar enough that you should buy the one that you want.

I know the gun snobs will be convinced I'm nuts but I have 2 that are better values and they both together are as cheap or cheaper than 1 new Glock 19. I have both a S&W SD9VE and a Taurus PT111 G2 that are as accurate as the Glock and both have been flawless. I shoot them both better than my son-in-law's Glock. I paid $289.99 for the SD9VE and $199.99 for the PT111. Also, the PT111 conceals better because of the shorter barrel and has a manual safety if you want to use it.

What are you wanting to do with the pistol? For an all around handgun, the Canik TP series is hard to beat for the money. There is the stigma of the brand of course, but honestly they're fine pistols.
