I find it interesting that this photo came from the very first monthly contest and has maintained a following all the way through the year ... even though this first year of the contest started in June.
It was post #16 of that first monthly contest, posted on the third day of it's running. Let's see if it's still a favorite in the Photo of the Decade Contest come Jan 2010. |

WOW!
That is a GREAT photo,three of my brothers were in The Marine Corps and two spent at least 2 tours in the bushes of vietnam,my brother Dan told me many Marines would fight to keep their M-14's over the new M-16's. Not sure exactly what two rifles those are BUT their beauties,just brought back some memories. Retired Navy, Woody

The firearms are great, the photo excellent but the SOUL/SPIRIT that these particular firearms represent is what makes them BEAUTIFUL to me.

The winning picture brings back many memories of my early years in the service. I had the pleasure to be armed with each of the rifles at one time or another in the early 1950's. Cogratulations on the win.
