Lead Bullet Loading Data
I load a lot of different size lead bullets. I have a lot of trouble finding load data for these bullets. Is there a reloading manual that is better for lead bullets then other ones. Example of some of the bullets are 120 -122gr SWC for .38 special, 230 gr RNFT for .45 ACP and 185 gr SWC for .45 Long Colt.
I currently have the following manuals. Lyman's 49th edition Hodgdon Basic Reloading Manual 2013 Alliant Powder Reloading Guide 2013 Hornady handbook 8th Edition |

Between Lyman's 49th, Lyman's cast, and the Lee 2nd edition you should be able to find what you are looking for.
Remember, for cast bullets you can use the data for the next higher weight as a reference point. For example, use 125 grain lead data for 120 grain lead bullets. Just don't go the other direction....

Most bullets I load, I have done so without published data. The 148g DEWC is an excellent example - I have never ever seen any published data on this bullet design; yet, I load more of them than any other. And they're common - you can buy them everywhere - yet, no published data. Not that I've looked that hard because they were easy enough to common sense my way to good recipes.
You just have to use as reference points, similar bullets/weights (as mentioned above). Start low, and expect lots of trial and error.

Lee's has good lead data, more diverse than my Lyman manual.
Also, don't hesitate to contact the powder manufacturer if they don't already have data published on their web site. I had a query earlier in the year regarding my Makarov and was blessed with a bevy of suggestions and load information.

If you use Accurate powders their manuals are superb.
