Anyone have trouble getting a LEO sigh off?

Our local Sheriff has had my forms for SBR and suppressor for most a month. I stopped by and asked if there was any questions holding us up. The kind lady, seems the Sheriff isn't in often, said he "wasn't filling out anything he didn't know what it was." I explained again what it was and asked why he hadn't called? (I had attached my business card to the paperwork) She said they had called to no avail. (My phone is on 24/7/365)

I'm tiring.....

My signoff took 8 weeks to get and repeated phone calls.

Form a Trust and bypass the CLEO. Bypass the fingerprints, citizenship certification and photograph too, for that matter... PM me for details...

Like VUPD said, form a trust. It was the best thing I did prior to getting into the NFA game.

Anyone know a FAQ thread on the trust option? I've been reading different threads on the subject and I think my brain is about to catch fire. Obviously a lawyer is a must.

Try this, I was going to send it to you the other night, but they were changing servers and the site was down. The thread is info from a practicing trust attorney who is also a Class III dealer.

Look here for trust info as well, from users who have done it.

Not only was the local CLEO delighted to sign off on the forms, we had a very pleasant discussion regarding shooting. Same goes with the local cop shop where I had the prints taken. They all were about as excited as I was that "I" was getting a subgun.

Try moving...just kidding. Where I grew up you couldn't get a LEO signiture unless you were directly related to the chief or sheriff. I moved to Oklahoma, and it is a whole other story. I called the Undersheriff last week and arranged to meet him on Monday morning. I went there, but he hadn't come in yet.The sheriff passed through the office. I asked if he had a minute, and the next thing I know I'm walking back out to my truck. The sheriff signed it, and he took my fingerprints, himself even though there was a deputy just 5 feet away.

The sheriff of the county I lived in when I moved to the UP was outstanding. Bitched and moaned about how much BS it is that he has to charge for carry permits. Said if it were up to him, he'd do it for free. Him and his staff are the best that money can buy.

Now I'm in a different county (next one over) and have seen the sheriff a few times, but not anyything special.

BCI ( Bureau of Criminal Identification used to do the CLEO while you waited and they did the print cards there too True ons stop shopping! However, a certain Sherrif deputy who had been assigned this duty in his respective county had a tantrum as no one was coming to see him and his newly gifted power was wasted! Alas, the BCI no longer will do sign offs. My local Police chief had my last Form 4 back to me signed, less than 8 hrs after I dropped it at dispatch! A few county SD's here require you to go to BCI and pay for a BG check and bring it in with your form. Apparently these are the guys who didint read the form and understand what they are signing it for! It simply says "I have no information that the transferee(form 4) or maker ( form 1) will use the firearm or device for other than lawful purposes and that possesion is not violation of state or local laws. Doesnt take a BG check to tell him that!
