I saw a woodchuck climb 12 feet into a tree once here in Maine. Was on a Sunday (No hunting in Maine on the Sabbath), so we went our separate ways.
The picture the OP posted, to me, looks like a young woodchuck.

Maybe a wild mink? The critter is in the news because one has covid. I Googled images and it could be what the o.p. has a picture of.

The way the hips are rotated downward and the rear legs spread really widely apart says that this is a marsupial of some sort. It looks like t-devil but the nose seems too blunt for that. Has the face of a kind of wombat.
