09 Bow Buck
This buck was a long time coming. Saw him several times this season, but always from afar. Got him on my birthday, and its actually the first day of rifle. (I can still use a bow and did). I stand pretty high, and noticed the bobbing of antlers coming up the CRP path about 200 yards away. I dove into the grass in hopes of intercepting him. I was laying on my pack and took a shot quickly as the wind was not in my favor ( I really sweated about this since I made a hasty decision to fire somewhat down to him rather than on the up side of the trail). Wind NOT IN my favor. I spined him, and finished him off. He is a 4 year old that has been working hard. His spine is showing, and I'm sure bred quite a few does. I've seen him from afar, and couldn't pass up this nearly dark (but legal) shot.
10 points (G2's are small), and split brow tines. They are about 1 inch in length Last edited by Dr. A; December 3, 2009 at 08:37 AM. |

70# Bowtech Guardian, 100gr. Muzzies and Carbon Express Rebel Hunter arrows. I shot him while laying on my back trying to keep my scent out of way ( and out of sight). He was downhill from me.
