Dillon RL1050 on the way

So, I was debating out loud in another thread, and have made a deal on a Dillon RL1050 for $1100 shipping included. It’s pretty old, because it has a rather dated looking case feeder bowl, but the person I’m buying it from is not the original owner, so 8nsure what year it is.

As a side note, I was looking at super 1050s as well, and the most recent unit I watched go through eBay went for $1555, plus an anticipated $80 in shipping. It was equipped for a different caliber than I wanted. Even if it was the right caliber, that’s a very close to new selling price, for a used, who knows how it was taken care of piece of equipment. But I digress...

It will take a few days for it to arrive, my last press was an XL650, and I tinkered with some small upgrades/aftermarket additions to make it run smoothly.

So, I’ve ordered the space parts kit from Dillon, just to be sure I had it, spent primer down chute and tube, shell plate bearing and decent ball from level 10 innovations.

I figure i’ll Just have to wait and see how it looks/operates when it gets here to do much else, but do any of you that have one of these have thoughts on must have improvements?

I think you'll be happy with the RL1050. The one I bought was used by a company selling ammo and was heavily used. Never had a problem with it.

I don’t like modifying presses until I know how they work as originally designed.

That said some RL parts are no longer made. They are coming out with a “new” press the RL1100 (a SHOT show) that is a new version of the old press.

That said I feel the RL linkage is a more robust design than the Super, just has too short of a stroke for some rounds.

Good for you, use it well. That is 10X more press tan I could ever use. Don't know if I should be jealous or content.

The RL arrived today, and is much dirtier than I'd have thought someone would sell one, but the good news for me is, I'm not very familiar with the press!

When I sold my 650, it was in tip top shape, fully cleaned. This thing was super nasty!

And no spare parts when I was done!

I want to give credit, and also point anyone who has a 1050 to this video if you ever want to do a full strip/clean/lubrication. I thought this video was very well done.
