Elk in West Virginia
I know it's not technically hunting, but if no one heard.
REMF has re-introduced elk in West Virginia. Kudos to them! This is one organization that i don't mind donating my hard earned money towards.

I think you can hunt the elk now that they reintroduced in Kentucky, right? Would be a very different experience than going out west. Seems pretty cool.

There are at least a couple of eastern states where it is technically possible to hunt elk now. The problem is getting a tag. They don't issue many and it is still possible to buy them over the counter in most of Colorado.
There is a good population in parts of SMNP. Mostly on the NC side of the park. Not huntable, but I've made an effort to view them on several occasions. Worth the trip.
