Universal M1 Carbine Scope?

Hey everybody, Just thought I would share and ask for some input. My dad has a Universal M1 Carbine. It has a "Red Arrow" 2.5x32 scope on it, (he bought it that way). We don't use it for much more than just plinking rounds and just generally screwing around. I was wondering if you guys think we should leave the scope on, or take it off and just go with iron sights? The scope is pretty nice to have, but it makes cleaning a PITA. I would appreciate hearing your opinions. Thanks.

Carbines, even Universals, don't need scopes. Screws up the balance.
You still have the iron sights on it?

Yep. The scope is mounted so you can still use iron sights.

Jeez, I was 10-ringing 50 yard pistol targets at 100 yards with my USGI M1 carbine last week. What's the scope fer?

the visually impared or those who can't figure out how to use the sights. My SIL is VERY recoil shy and we want her to be able to use the carbine, but she can't use the sights.

That kind of kills the humor

I appreciated the humor, even though it was some pretty dry humor
