This is just a question out of curiosity, I'm not planning on doing anything illegal. My shotguns are all above legal length.
How effective would a 12 guage shotgun be with a 9 inch barrel? How much would it affect the terminal effectivness of buckshot? I imagine that muzzle blast would be incredible. |

Fired 00 from 14 inch bbled 870s in low light, quite a fireball. A 9 inch would be even more so,IMO.

http://www.serbu.com/shorty.htm It is my undrstanding that a really short SG barrel really limits the power and effectivness of certin types or rounds. Buck and slug rounds use a slower burning powder and need more barrel to get up to speed. In the really short barrels, the faster birdshot loads work better than the Buck/slug. NJW |
