Based on your personal experiences not what the manufacture suggests, what game do you take with the following shot?

I use #2 steel for ducks
BB steel for Geese
00 buck for Home defense
#5 or #6 for turkey
#7 1/2 field loads for everything else.

When I squirrel hunted a lot with a shotgun I used #6 because theri hide is a little tougher than some other small game animals.

#9,8,7 for birds, squirels, snakes and rats

#6,5,4 for rabbits, raccoons, possums, cats, armadillas

#2, BB, BBB, ducks, turkeys, chupacabres

If this is not correct let me know what is wrong.

I have used and currently use:

8.5 for clay pigeons.
6 for small game.
Slugs for Deer.

I havent hunted anything but those frustrating clay pigeons in a while so all my loading is done with 8.5.

I like 8.5 shot for clays, but do not use it or 9s on live stuff.

8s are limited to quail.

7.5s are for dove, etc.

6s for squirrels, rabbits and close in ringnecks.

4s for ringnecks and turkey.

Except for quail, I prefer hard shot for game.

Hevi 2s for Geese.

HTH....

The only addition would be #9,8,7 would add clay pidgeons. Other than that, spot on

FWIW, I only buy two sizes: 7.5s and 6s. For deer, slugs.

7.5 for pertnear everything that flies except pheasants and turkeys.
6s for turkey and squirrel and like size animals.

I don't waterfowl, so I mostly buy promo loads of 7.5 and 6s.

I typically use 7.5's for doves. I haven't quail hunted in years but used the same then too. I do occasionally take some 6's with me to the dove field in case the birds are flying high that day.

I use 00 buck or slugs for deer.

I use heavy 5's or 6's for turkey

I use 6's for squirrels and rabbit.

That about covers it for me. Don't do the waterfowl thing. I don't hunt mythical creatures.
