Yes, They are good bullets. What gun are you going to shoot them out of?

Have used in both 308 AR and heavy barreled 308 bolt with great satisfaction.

Very accurate bullet for the price.

I've been shooting Berger 190 VLD out of a 300 WSM. They are great bullets, but they are expensive. I have a 1 and 10 twist, so i might need something heavier then a 175 gr. but for the price it might be worth a try.

Your 1:10 twist 300Mag will do fine with 175gr bullets. Keep them a little under 2850FPS.

Those are the 173 grn (very over the years from 172 to 175). Use in the M118 white box match until they were replaced with the M852 which was the NM loaded with SMK 168s. The 173s pictured loaded in M118 then became Special Ball, used as a sniper round, (and still is I believe), There is also the M118LR which is the M118 loaded with the SMK 175 grn bullets.

We got both M118 SB and M852 Match in the National Guard Marksmanshiip Units, depending on what was in supply. We discovered the 173s pictured, would shoot better in the 4 groove NM M14s, We also had M14 with the 6 groove barrels which would shoot the 168s but not the 173s. I ended up issuing two rifles to our rifle team members, to use depending on what ammo we happened to get at the time.

DCM, (now CMP) use to sell the 173s thru State Clubs at a pretty reasonable price.

I still shove several thousand that we pulled from M118 making Mexican Match by stuffing in 168s, before the M852 came about. You can blame the M852 on the AMU, they were mexican matching M118s in the Mid 70s. Thats where I got the ideal. As machinery was wearing out, the M118 started going south, creating a demand for the M852 for match shooting and the M118, as I mentioned was stuffed in brown boxes and called M118 Special Ball.

Anyway, if you want plinikers, they are great, that and practice. If you want Match Ammo, I'd recommend going to the 168s or 175 SMKs.

PS: We found out the 173s didnt work worth a hoot in our 1000 yard bolt guns, we went to SMK 200s for that. The M118s using the 173s didnt have the keyhole problem the 168s did. The 175 SMKs fixed that too.
