A lot of folks with nickel-plated S&Ws send them back to S&W to have them re-done. It may cost a bit more, but the results are generally outstanding, and the gun unquestionably stays "correct."

No recommendations other than use a top notch smith or company that has a very good track record for removing the old nickel & re-application of the new nickel plating. I have seen many guns that did not come out right. Have you considered giving S&W a call.

The M39 has an alloy frame, which requires electroless nickel plating.
S&W would be my choice-if they will do it. If not, Ford's or one of the highly regarded refinishers. |

Here's some of the top professional platers who offer bright nickel.
These don't do substandard crap work..... http://www.apwcogan.com/ Possibly the best all around gun refinisher. https://www.fordsguns.com/ Offer a special price for aluminum frames only. http://www.techplate.com/firearms_pl.htm |
