Any semiauto handgun cartridge that headspaces on the case mouth should be taper crimped. So yes, it is important.

And any seater die for 9mm (that I know of) will do the taper crimp thing. Follow the directions that came with the die. And don't crimp any more than necessary to take the flare out. Over-crimping is bad juju.

Dillon seating dies do not have a taper crimp function. They include a taper crimp dedicated die in their 3 die sets.

I alway follow up with a crimp die. I'm using the Lee factory crimp die with an RCBS 9mm die set.
