Safety hammerless Smith and Wesson
I was given a very nice little used Safety Hammerless (lemon squeezer) in 38 S&W, blues 3 inch barrel , 95% + condition. Serial number 256xxx and would like to know the date of manufacture if any one can help. May be a value although as it was given to me by my brother I won’t part with it.

According to the Catalog Smith and Wesson, somewhere in-between 1907 and 1940.
It is within about 5000 of the end of production. Your guess is good, I would say maybe 1935 or later. For the record, it's a .38 Safety Hammerless, 5th model. Total built, of 5th model, was 41,500. They are fun little guns. |
