Need help identifying shotgun

Okay so I acquired an old Remington shotgun that was my grandfathers that my dad gave me for my 30th birthday. He does not know much about it and I cant find any info about it really. It loads and ejects from the bottom, says "Remington Trap Grade" on the pump arm. There is an R.P. stamp on the right side of barrel, and a B stamp on the left. Any help is greatly appreciated!

What gauge is it? Where are the safety and slide release located?

Could be a Model 10, 29, or 17 depending on those factors.

12 gauge I believe. It’s not marked. Safety is on front of trigger guard. Slide release on right side breach housing.

Well---the list of Remington bottom ejects is fairly short.

"Remington Repeating Shotgun" 1908-1910
"Model 10" Same as above, 1911-1929
"Model 29" 1929-1933

All had a number of grades---can you post some pictures?

ETA---Yours is a model 10, or possibly the earlier (but identical)
Remington Repeating Shotgun. The model 10 had the safety at the front
of the trigger guard--model 29 was at the rear.

Nice old shotgun. You have a close-up of what it says on the barrel forward
of "FULL" on the left side? Does it have a 2 letter date code on the left side
the barrel? I don't think they used the barrel code until 1921 or so---so if it
doesn't have one it's probably older.

I can tell you it is not the model 17 20 gauge.
I have my grandfather's model 17 and the photo's are different.

It has to be a model 10 or a model 29. I have a small hunch it's a model 10.

The photo of the right side of the receiver flat shows a round pin or pivot, right smack in the middle ...the model 29 doesn't have this. The right side of the 29 is just smooth and flat no round circular pin or pivot.

Remington Model 10....final answer

I think the Model 17 was a Browning design that became the Ithaca Model 37. In either instance a great shotgun.

So the consensus seems to be that it is indeed a model 10. However I do not see a date code anywhere on the barrel. Only stampings that I see say R.P. and B. So it would be safe to assume that this shotgun is pre 1920's?

Have the chamber checked for its true size. IF it is pre-20s, chambers might be different than today's 2-3/4".
