dies
Not to many folks reload for AK's I'd be willing to bet. I load 7.62x39, but the ctgs go in a Ruger 77-mkII or a Mini-30. In both instances, I want a different slug for hunting. (deer)
The import steel case ammo is all most folks run in AK's. Good luck finding any right now. |

The rifle was originally built around a steel cased intermediate round. Brown bear, silver bear, wolf, bring them on.

So we shot the Mak yesterday! what great fun ! A surprisingly light trigger pull, I need to get a front sight tool (shooting 3" wide right @ 50 yds), and take down tool kit. Front sight post is pretty thick it covers the target @ 100 yds, sight tool will let me set for six o'clock hold.

I have that EXACT same paratroopers MAK 90. Same stock color and all.
Mine ha a milled receiver and cost e 179.00 in 1992 I believe. 1200 rounds of steel core ammo for another 179.00. Chinese crate ammo I want to get it cerakoted and I would love to find a different stock/furniture for it but cant find anything that will fit and I hate ordering things I dont kow will fit. |

Hey Plumb
Yup! Milled receiver, shoots pretty decent, trying to find mags for it. Borrowed my bud's mags for the shoot yesterday.

Just like mine as well. But, I refuse to swap parts just for furniture.

The under-folder, and later the side-folder stocks were made for soldiers like paratroopers. And Plumbnut, you bring up something I have wondered about. Is the receiver different for those thumbhole stock AKs, such that you can't put regular butt-stocks and pistol grips on them? Then there is the question of legality of the above modification...... I was told its a paratroopers model because of the thumbhole and is shorter.
But I dont know for sure really.......thats just what I was told. I know all AK variants can be different in some way about the way the stock goes onto the gun. Hopefully a guy who knows what their talking about will jump in. My MAK 90 was purchased before the 1993 crime bill.....I think its refered to as Pre-ban. A long time ago I had a Chinese MAK-90 with a milled receiver, and when I tried to put standard AK furniture on it I discovered that the bottom rear of the receiver was milled away and had no mounting tang. I eventually made my own stock and used a bolt/washer and nut that went through into the receiver at the rear, but it was a pretty hokey setup and I sold the rifle a short time later. I believe there may be companies out there that make a replacement stock set that will actually fit a MAK-90 receiver.

Brakes, bayonet, evil pistol grips…Norinco and PolyTec had to modify to continue import.
Finally all China guns were stopped. If it were Pre it would be AKM not MAK. |

Midway has mags; I just received 2-20 rnd and 2-30 rnd "Tapco" mags.
Polymer follower & body with metal bottom plate & spring, a good tight fit, and they feel "rock solid". Can't wait to try them, and they are priced right! |
