M16A4 Clone Trigger Opinion

Need some opinions. I have an FN Military Collector M16 that I topped with an ACOG to make the rifle as close as I can to a USMC M16A4. The only thing missing is the giggle switch, but it's as close as I can legally make it. It looks awesome!

That said the USGI trigger is...

uh...

serviceable...

All my other ARs have upgraded triggers so when I shoot it I REALLY notice the difference. I kinda want to drop a Giessle trigger into it but feel that kind of defeats the purpose of being a clone. That said there would be no cosmetic difference.

Whatcha think?

If I was going to buy a 1967 GTO, I sure as heck would put modern radials on it instead of those old Bias Ply tires, so that it was safe and fun to drive.

Are you going to shoot the M16 clone? Might as well enjoy it after all that money and effort. You could always go with a Larue MBT-2S. A nice 2 stage for $80

I actually used RRA NM triggers on my clones.

I agree. My A2 clone is wearing a magpul grip and an RRA varmint trigger, it's still cool

It is what it is, it's not what it's not. Do what you wanna do. Doesn't matter.

The ALG QMS feels like a cleaner version of GI if you want to keep it close.

Im kinda torn on this one, on one hand you want the authentic feel of what you may have carried? On the other hand a Larue trigger would be nice? Maybe polish the factory trigger and see how it acts?

If you want a cheap upgrade that does help try a nickel boron treated trigger set. I have a bought quite a few of the Right To Bear ones. They have a much better feel than milspec and if you pair it with lighter springs you can bring the pull weight down as well.

I've had a closeish version of a CAR-15 (XM177E2) for almost 30 years now, and I just recently dropped in an ALG ACT. It's pretty close to the QMS, but I think has some kind of slicker metal coating or treatment.

I went with the ACT for the same reasons it sounds like you're thinking of. I wanted to retain the "battle rifle" aspect, but clean up the crappy mil-spec trigger. I'm really happy with it, and for about $70 you just can't go wrong.

If I was trying to get a trigger that operated closer to a happy trigger I would get a Franklin Armory Binary trigger. Then you can flip it to the fun position and get as close as possible legally. Just a thought, and like you said you already have other AR's with upgraded triggers.
