98 Mauser

I previously posted wanting to know about the value of a 98 Mauser. A few people thought they could better determine the value with more detailed pictures of the gun. Here you go . . .

Very interesting rifle. Looks a lot like mine. I can tell you that it is a russian capture rifle because like mine, it has an "x" stamped on the reciever. The differance is that i believe mine is a true german marked rifle (as the stamping looks exactly like yours) but that mitchells got ahold of. they polished the bolt and re-stained the stock. hope someone with more info comes along. hope this helps a little at least?

Looks very similar to my 98k large ring Mauser that I bought in the 1960's.

Is there a number on the left side of the butt?

Does it have capture screws, sight hood or cleaning rod?

It appears to be a clean Russian capture Mod98. I'd guess $300+/-.
