Daniel Defense Quality Control

Still trying to decide on my next AR. My source just got in a Daniel Defense M4V5 and would sell to me for dealer price. It's in a similar price range of the LMT SPM16 I've been looking at.

It seems like I've been reading more and more about quality control issues with Daniel Defense. Are they still good to go, top quality ARs? Anyone here have recent experiences with them?

First I've heard of quality control issues with Daniel Defense. Their QC is usually regarded pretty highly - up there with BCM, Colt, LWRC, LMT, etc.

Would be curious to hear more about these issues.

Granted, this is a sample set of one from Youtube, but one guy named Robski who does reliability/durability testing had problems with a Daniel Defense. A PSA passed the exact same test. Maybe the DD having problems was a fluke since every manufacturer puts out a lemon every once in a while, but just a few days ago on here there was a gentleman who'd just purchased a DDM4V5 and discovered the safety selector was frozen up right after purchase.

DD is good to go. Rob puts his stuff thru more abuse then most people ever will & gives honest reviews. All manufactures can have problems even DD.

So you think Robski's Daniel Defense was just a lemon and as a whole they're good to go? I'll never put my rifles through that, but it'd be nice to know it can.

Yes I do. I wouldn't expect you to have any problems. I have DD,LWRC ,LaRue and haven't had problems with any of them.

Daniel Defense makes top notch firearms. I would not hesitate to put my trust in any product put forth by Marty Daniel and crew.

And if you have any issue whatsoever, they'll take care of you in short order.

Thanks all. Daniel Defense has always seemed like a top-tier product. Good to hear it's still highly thought of.

Are you talking about the rail shifting after he dropped it on a giant rock or the fcg malfunction that he couldn’t even figure out what went wrong. A hard enough hit can tweak or move most rails some and any ar can have a malfunction doesn’t mean it’s even the guns fault.

Mainly the FCG malfunction. As I understand it though, that particular trigger group fell within the recall serial number range.

I wouldn't expect any free float rail to be able to take those impacts without any shift. If I was going to be doing that I'd just throw on some cheap polymer handguards.

In my somewhat limited personal experience with DD rifles, they've always been great.

Also, there's a ton of other YouTubers I watch that have put a ton of rounds through DD rifles and who I generally don't think are shills... they've all had nothing but good things to say and don't baby their guns... though they don't do what Rob does.

I'm not even a huge Daniel Defense guy, but it's definitely not due to their QC.
