Yesterday I bought a 1000 round bulk pack of Winchester 22LR at the Dick's store near me for $60. I think the last time I bought a brick of 500 was in the 80's, for $5, so it hurt a little. But 6 cents a shot actually doesn't seem bad. This is encouraging. Maybe things are finally looking up.

What was 22LR selling for before the craziness? Say, before Obama?

In 2007-2008 a 525 pack could be had for about $18 at Walmart.
I remember the market recovering entirely from the first Obama shortage in about 18 months. We are 22 months out from Sand Hook and I haven't seen a bulk pack of 22lr at Walmart yet, let alone a shelf full every time I go shopping.

Pre Sandy Hook, I was buying 525rd bricks of 22lr for $15 or just under 3 cents a round.

BassPro online has pistol powders. I got some Unique, and they still got Unique, Bullseye, RedDot and some others. They sold out of 2400 yesterday. But anyway.... if you don't have ANY.... it ain't a bad price. And they do offer free ship-to-store. No hazmat if you got a store near you!

Has ANYONE seen a brick of 22lr at a walmart since 8/1/14?
I am asking because I am wondering if their contracts ran out and the other distributors won out as they were willing to pay more. I imagine Walmart usually guarantees a huge portion of the supply with a preferenced option for a lot more.

Yes. Not really a brick... but 300 per person. I assume you missed this sale? It was a national event, but not every store. Some don't sell ammo.

Do you mean 8/1/2012?

They had small bricks (222 rounds) last week, limit 1. About $10.

If anyone is interested in over priced .22lr, Brownells is selling 500rd boxes of CI of Mexico for the ridiculously high price of $59.99. Their flyer claims no limits while supplies last.

At that price, I'm sure only the most desperate or ill informed would even consider buying any.

I did mean 8/1/14. Wanted to see if anyone in the country has a regular supply.
The 300 rounds of CCI is considerably more expensive than the bulk "bricks." The 222 round bricks isn't too far off. With a limit of one that still wouldn't supply me for an afternoon at the range shooting 22s with myself or especially with a friend/spouse.

Red Dot No longer avail at Natchez's

They must have gotten a truck load of pistol powder at Natchez yesterday. Still have Red Dot available if anyone needs it. It's gone now.

Perhaps a Mod can delete this thread?

Nah, we don't wanna close this thread - we haven't had a good gripe session about powder in a while

Looks like HS-6 also made a brief appearance there too. I haven't seen HS-6 anywhere in well over a year. So that's kind of an encouraging sign. (I have 2 Lbs of it, so I'm good.)

Maybe HP-38 or W231 will start popping up for the first time in over 2 years.

I finally got some Bullseye and Power Pistol. They only lasted about 15 minutes.

I am seeing a good variety of pistol powders a couple times/week on gunbot now. They don't last long--usually less than 15 minutes before they are sold out. But this is very encouraging.

I did find a pound of HP-38 at a local gun shop a couple weeks ago.

My LGS was getting in Alliant powders throughout the autumn - a few pounds this Friday, a few pounds that Friday sorta thing. I did my part by standing in line, and over the course of a few months, got my fill of Bullseye, Unique, and Power Pistol.

Still looking for AA2 and HP-38/W231 (I have both, but getting low.)

Usually in the cold months, the producers re-gear for rifle powders. I was kinda hoping they stick with producing the fast pistol stuff - since there never seems to be enough of it.

I was at my LGS on Thursday to check on the powder situation. They had a bunch in. There were four pounds of 296 on the shelf. There were two when I left . They had a bunch of 700X too. I haven't used it but I'm getting low on Universal so I grabbed a couple of those to tide me over. They also had an eight pounder of Titegroup. I've never used the stuff and I'm not really interested in trying it. I know it has a lot of fans and a lot of people are looking out for it. I left it for one of them.

700x seems to be one of those powders that flies under the radar most of the time. I picked up an 8lb keg a few months ago when there was nothing else available and have worked up a nice CAS load in .38spl. I like it. At 2.7g per round, I think I'm good for a long time...

Natchez has #8's of Red Dot available again.

Of course, by the time you read this, they'll be sold out again

He probably found it sitting on a shelf - right next to the leprechaun

Yes, congratulations are in order.

The local stores haven't had anything but Pyrodex or 777 for the past couple years. If I didn't need some 4227, I could get by on my stash...

The local gun shop actually had 4 or 5 lbs of HP-38 on the shelf. They had a 1lb limit per person per day. I guess I should have gone back the next day for another lb, but I had 1lb at home already and didn't want to be a hoarder...

Three in a row.

During the past 10 days or so I have stopped three times at the nearest Walmart to do some shopping and each time they had some 22 ammo on the shelf. This was later in the day after work and I know they put it out early in the morning so they have had enough to set of the shelf all day and not run out. They didn't have a big selection, but they had some which is more than can be said for the past two years.

Maybe they are getting more supplies? Perhaps the situation is resolving itself?
