Installing a Sharpshooter trigger in Savage

Ok, got myself a new Savage, didn't get the good trigger from the factory though, I willp ick it up at Brownells soon.

Is installing and adjusting it a job I can do myself? Says it comes with detailed included.

Thanks for the help

Very easy to install - provide you are handy with tools and have the patience to follow instructions precisely in the manner intended. ... only YOU can answer that question .

If these links come out OK here's some additional reading for you. Make SURE you know that the trigger, action, and safety WORK as intended once you're done. Please read through these posts and/or use the search function and look for "sharp shooter supply trigger", etc.,.

Please make note of what people do/advise for "how to" instructions used to check it and make sure its safe.

Drop test & mallet on-the-action test: http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/...supply+trigger

Basis Sharp Shooter Supply, Rifle Basix, and stock/factory trigger info: http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/...hlight=trigger

This thread has the "how to" adjust info from Fred Moreo's (he owns the SSS company) instruction sheet plus a digital picture of a SSS trigger installed: http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/...hlight=trigger

Another post with more info on "how to" check the trigger for safety - the slam-bolt test. FWIW, for the guys I've seen who've modified the stock/factory trigger themselves, they've had unintentional firings when closing the bolt with force. Scares the 'be Jesus out of them and anyone around them: http://www.thefiringline.com/forums/...hlight=trigger

FWIW, Fred is coming out soon with a benchrest trigger for the Savage rifles that will go down to 2 ounces. Arnold Jewell also has one in the works for 1.5 ounces to 4.5 pounds - all in one trigger, alleged to cost $180 or so in 2003 sometime.

Be safe, when in doubt, have your gunsmith do the install or send to Fred @ SSS - he's GREAT!!

Tight groups !!

I should have added ... I've installed two SSS triggers in new model Savage rifles and neither one required any filing or fitting. Detailed instructions included "if" this is needed on your rifle though.
