what's the advantage of a gun being designated as a C & R?...

If you want to buy it and you have a C&R FFL, then the designation will reduce your transaction costs ... if you are trying to sell it, then more people are in the pool of potential direct buyers. What this means is that there are fewer middle men in the transactions and the values are better for both the buyer and the seller.

1. You can have C&R guns sent right to your door.
2. You can buy wholesale and save lots on transfer costs. 3. Many dealers and parts houses give a C&R/FFL discount. |

A C&R licensee can also legally buy C&R guns from nonlicensees in a face-to-face transaction outside of his or her home state.
A C&R licensee can legally purchase a C&R-eligible NFA gun directly from an out-of-state seller without having to transfer the gun through a home-state Class III dealer. This sidesteps an additional $200 tax stamp and the extra paperwork.
