western field 87a disassembly
Folks, I recently picked up a totally rusted 87a, thinking I would remove the rust and paint the jewel and use it for grandkids shooting trips. Good plan but I can't figure out how to remove the mag tube from the receiver. I have the guns digest book 3 coming but no telling how long it will take and I'm getting frustrated.
Plastic stock looks good with a ncie coat of semi-flat black and I'm really anxious to get more done on the barrel and receiver and press on. Can anyone be of help?? Sure would be appreciated Ray |

OK, no responses, so I went ahead with brute force. Worked, but dinged up the end of the mag tube. Nothing a file won't fix, however.
I can't quite figure out why it took several smacks with a medium hammer to come loose and now it slides on and off with no resistance. Maybe I put the fear in it Ray |
