Weighing Cases

When segregating rifle brass by weight, what do you consider an acceptable deviation within the same group? Been going +/- 1 gn. Is this too much. I'm chasing accuracy demons in my 220 Swift, and trying to eliminate one more variable. Thanks, Andy

I think myself that case weight is less important than case capacity. If being really picky then I'd check all cases for water capacity to make sure internal volume was identical. Just me! (after trimming)

yer right case volume is what your looking for. weight is indictitive of volume but not totally accurate. As to case deviation for my 22-250 I use +/- .3 gr. One thing i have done in the past is take a 100 new cases. separate them by weight and keep the 50% that are nearest to the mean weight. This is of course after I have done a full case prep on all the cases.

I usually do a wall thickness with them using my NICO guage then I weigh them within the groups seperated using guage and use, as rwilson, .3-.4 grn. if required. The Nico guage does a good job of segregating them by volumn and the weights will be very close usually after measuring them. All this accomplished after case preps.
