A training barrel came with my FN Shooter's pack.

I haven't used it more than a few times but it's an interesting idea. Certainly allows you to have many types of "blue guns" without quite the cost of a blue gun for every one you own...

I have one and consider it indispensible for dry fire and home holster practice, along with allowing me to get action photos from better angles than we could otherwise safely do. I do not use it during disarm/retention practice since we do have blue guns and those are less apt to tear your hands up than a real firearm is -- plus they weigh less and thus hurt less when they drop on your foot without warning.

It's a good investment.

Oh, doesn't cushion the firing pin. If you're one of those folks who's sure that normal dry firing sans a dummy round will shatter the metal, this gadget isn't for you. I'm not inclined to worry about it with modern guns, so I think this little doodlehickey is a wonderful addition to the toolkit.

Thanks Pax and OcelotZ3.

Interesting what spending some time looking around on the interwebs reveals..

Several of us used them when we took the Suarez International 0-5FT Gunfighting class. It allowed us to use actual wepaons for take-away drills and such instead of blue/red guns or airsoft.

I bought a couple of the cheap Korean Glock magazines, took out the springs/followers, added enough weight to simulate a loaded magazine. I then painted the bases yellow for a safe training package.
