"Today I bought one 20 round box of PMC X-TAC 5.56 for $11.99 at a local hardware store/gun shop."

That'll last all but what....5 seconds?

Within the last few days I have purchased 1000 rds of .22LR, 150 rds. of .357 Mag., 150 rds. of .38 Spl., 250 rds. of 9mm, 50 shells of #4 12 GA, and 25 shells of 00 Buck 12 GA. All this between Dunhams and Wally World. Just have to know when the delivery trucks get in. Also it is a blessing having a boss that let's me come and go as I please as long as I get my work done and I don't abuse the privilege. I might also note he's also a ardent gun owner.

Sure, in certain circumstances but the last time I shot my WW AR-15 I sighted in my new Nikon M-223 scope and shot about 15 rounds. I was just replacing what I had shot. I have several hundred rounds of .223/5.56 already and they only had 8 boxes on the shelf so I am trying to practice what I preach and not buy any more than what I need and leave some for others.

Cabelas yesterday was pretty bleak. Lots of shooting birdie shotgun stuff. No 9mm or 22. Some 45, 327, 410 Judge stuff.

I still can't understand the 22 disappearing. I know most folks have one but it's just gone.

Went to WW this morning... they had a fresh supply of WWB 100 rd boxes of 38 and 40.... probably 10 of each. and had tula FMJ 223 2 boxes left and tula 7.62 about 5 boxes left.... thats the first 223 or 7.62 ive seen there since January 1st.
Local sporting goods store has Wolf FMJ back in stock... 223 was like $275 per 1k and 7.62 was $299... Im sure it didnt last long.

I managed to get to my LGS early enough to snag two boxes of WWB 45 acp and a box of Winchester 158 gr LSWC-HP +P in .38.
They still have a pallet stacked with 7.62x39 at a decent price, and wished for an AK or a Ruger Mini-30.
The shelves are quite bare, and it looks like old mother Hubbard's shelves.

Walmart again, Winchester 240g SJSP 44 Magnum's, and yes I paid to much, but I need the brass anyways.

The gun store where I picked up some guns yesterday for transfer, they had plenty of .45acp and 9mm name brand non Russian for good reason, "THE PRICE".

slim pickins' in Chicago western burbs

I stop by Wally World 2 mornings a week and am able to get 3 boxes of cheap 9mm FMJ range ammo about every other time... usually the only 3 boxes there. No .22 LR ammo in weeks. Our LGR has had some when I've gone but when I reserved range for a week from now, they told me I should bring some of my own ammo as they are having trouble getting it in. Haven't seen personal defense 9mm handgun ammo at LGR, Bass Pro Shops, or Wal-Mart since December. I have a whopping total of 50 shots.

A friend of mine just sold his AR, and bought a used 357 ruger blackhawk. He called me and asked where he could find 357 mag ammo of any kind, and did I have any. I told him good luck finding any right now, and I did not have a 357, but I did have some .38 special that he could use, if he wanted to shoot his ruger, then he asked would I trade some .38 for some 5.56 he had left. I told him to bring it and we would deal. Long story short, I got 340 rounds federal 62 gn 5.56 XM855F1 on stripper clips in ammo can, and 80 clean brass, for 2-50 round boxes of blazer .38 special. Now thats what friends are for!

I ordered 1000 rds of 9mm from freedommunitions.com on Jan 9th. It finally came in today. That should last me a few months and hopefully the stores will restock by then.

When ammo shortage will end

Any thoughts on when the ammo shortage will end and get back to normal supplies?

expensive 9mm at Walmart

I was at the Walmart in south austin today. they had five boxes of federal 9mm for $22.

Used to be like $12.

At least it's something. It's the first 9mm I've seen on shelves in 2 months.

Isn't that price gouging? Should we report that to someone in the Obama administration?

I bought a box of 30.06 for $18 -- rem core lokt 185 gr. -- instead.

Last night the 9mm ammo deliver at our Walmart came to one box (50 rounds). Also, a few boxes of other calibers, but not much of anything.

Finally found some 22lr at Midway.com. Ordered 500 at about 8c a round. Worth it to not have to worry for a bit longer.

Wow - you got lucky! I just checked Midway, and they don't have *any* .22lr that's either "in stock" or "backorder OK".

I can tell now that I've stocked up. I check a few websites multiple times a day. It can change as they get stock in and sell stock. A couple of days ago I found some on a site and by the time I got my CC from my dresser, it was gone. You have to move fast.

www.bulkammo.com keeps their site updated as stock comes in.
Ammoseek.com is another good one that searches other sites. I found some there yesterday only to find that that store doesn't ship to TN for some reason.
Ammuntiontogo.com
Ammo.net
And Midwayusa.com is where I scored some.
