Anyone own/shoot an XD-S 9mm 4.0?
I just shot one the other day and was very impressed, it was a very smooth shooter. I also noticed that it has been discontinued by Springfield. I really hope they bring it back in the 4.0 or maybe a 3.8 like the XD-E.

I very much agree with you, I held one a few years ago and loved the feel. Ended up buying the shorter XD-s 9mm for carry and have put around 2500 rounds through it and to this day I'm amazed how well it will shoot!

XD Mod2 4.0 in both 9mm and 45acp are two of my wife's pistols and she shoots the 45 acp as well as the 9mm. I shoot them also and like them though I am more partial to Witness pistols. I know many dislike and comment on the Mod2 "Grip Zone" printed on the grip but I honestly can't read it when I grip it.

I have owned an XD9 4.0 for a few years now (Not XD-S). Similar platform. Very good shooter and easy to carry concealed.

I have the first gen 3.3 in. 9mm with a gray frame. Very nice trigger, stock sights, and carries nice and flat at 3:00 owb. I'd get the .45 version in the 4.0 barrel if I found one at a great price.

My brother has one and I've shot it at the range with him a couple times. I liked it alright, but not a big fan of single stack 9mms. It feels very narrow in my hand and sorta square, unlike my double stack 9s or my Sig P365. The trigger was better than I expected though, and the long sight radius made for fast target aquisition. I like Springfields stock sights with the fiber optic front.

Springfield sold out America, betrayed us to the Russians, hates the first 5 amendments and eats puppies. I read it on the Internet!!!
I did shoot the 4.0 and thought it was quite good. Everyone is going crazy about the new Glock wonder-twins like "OMG, can you believe they made a single-stack with the muzzle length of a compact?" I think the 4.0 was actually a good blend, giving you the long slide with a short grip for concealment. It would be nice to see it return. I think the new Mod.2 grip on the XD-S is a huge improvement over the blocky "snow tire" grip on the original. |
