Wyoming Bill for permitless CCW
Appears that the Wyoming State Legislature is entertaining the idea that no permit for concealed carried weapons permit is necessary. This is in some views is consistent with the 2nd. Ammendment.
What do you all think ? http://news.google.com/news?q=Wyomin...ed=0CBsQsQQwAw Last edited by Al Norris; February 21, 2010 at 12:29 AM. Reason: Title Correction/Clarification |

Arizona is working on theirs. If you live in a state where open carry is allowed it makes no sense to require a permit so you can rearrange your shirt tail and conceal a gun.

WOW! Congrats to the people of Wyoming. You may actually have representatives in your state house that actually have read and understand the Constitution.

I'd still get a permit, it covers you in many other states.
I carry under HR 218 but my wife has her's, I'm gonna tell her to keep it, it would be handy when she travels to Indiana to see her folks. But Yes, It's a good deal............that and HR 95 (Made in Wyoming Law).

Wyoming was already on my short list of places to retire. I think it just moved up a notch or two.

So this applies only to Wyoming residents?

The thread title is a bit optimistic. The bill only was passed through the Judiciary Committee. It has NOT been passed by the Legislature or signed into law.

I am thinking of getting A Utah CCW License as it allows carry in so many states. While my Idaho CCW only allows for carry in Idaho

I'm moving to Wyoming in the summer, I can't wait to live somewhere where the laws make sense.

Nomadicone .... don't forget that Arnie's socialist utopia of CA has open carry! But, concealed, probably never.

Your permit is about as good as Utah's. Check here. But, certainly check where you're going for the latest and greatest in changes.

Although California can be considered an open carry state in reality it is not so. First...it is a misdemeanor to open carry a loaded gun, so the gun can only be carried without a mag in it. Second, there is an issue regarding population density and open carry. If the population density is above a certain amount then you cannot open carry. In most CA jurisdictions it is next to impossible to obtain a concealed carry permit.
The main issue with open carry is that anytime you step off the sidewalk/street, such as entering a business you transition from the public domain to private property, the owner/manager of the establishment can ask you to leave if you are carrying and you have no recourse other than to spend your money elsewhere. I have run into this problem while living in WA which is an open carry state with preemption, meaning that local municipalities/jurisdictions can not make their laws stricter than state law. The benefit of concealed carry is that if you are doing it right no one knows you have a gun on you and you wont get kicked out of places due to other people's ignorance. -z |

zohanCalifornia open carry has nothing to do with population density. I personally called the bureau of firearm of California and asked them myself. If you do open carry in California you will be stopped by the police so much that you will be on a first name basis with your local police department. Hopefully more people will start to open carry and make it more accepted in California.

Kraigwy,
I too have a CCWP for WY and for the same reasons as you I will maintain my permit, it is good in 24 states. Administrator thank you for moving this thread to it's proper spot, my apologies for posting in the wrong section. |

I have an Idaho CWP and Idaho has reciprocity with many states. I carried a pistol in Texas with mine no problem. Here is a list of states where your Idaho permit will work. Quote:

Folks, we all know about reciprocities for concealed carry. Just as a reminder, let's make sure that we know the license requirements from each state that we may be traveling thru. Sure they honor your permits, but they have made their own rules as to how. One of my states recently changed their laws pertaining to such, and I didn't know it until recently. Ohio recently changed their laws to only allow CCW holders to have the gun concealed ON THEIR PERSON while driving, otherwise locked in a case or locked glovebox. Always safer to call and check.

IMHO this should be the law of the land nation wide. Many will disagree with me I am sure but I think some of our gun laws are almost treason and should be grounds for impeachment (I am a constitionalist) So many laws have gone to far, its now like were the land of the "only somewhat free". The second ammendments pretty clear to me.. Thats my nickle....

It appears that HB 113 (concealed carry) has passed 2nd reading. One more in the House then over to the senate. Not looking to bad... but I'm not holding my breath.

Coming for SoCal, were going to meet a local at a restaurant in Cody before we went to the shooting complex north of town. Because of the guns in the truck, I rolled up the windows and clicked the button to lock and arm the alarm. The local shrugged and gave me an inquisitive look. I looked back over the parking lot, it was a hot day, and mine was the only one with the windows rolled up. He smiled and said, "In Wyoming, we can use a gun to defend our property with no problems from the law."

Wow, congrats on living in a state that gives you the right to protect yourself.
Here in WI there are absolutly no legal ways to conceal carry unless you are a peace officer. |
