I NEED HELP

I just have gotten my custom(new to me) thumbhole 22-250/Mauser IT alread had the mounts screwed into the receiver. I have mounted a Weaver 10X glass. I have never had to set the eye relief on a scope. I have however seen the result of it not being set correctly.
SUGGESTIONS are always Welcome.
THANKS
ROGER

Thanks for the two articles. I would have never found them. I think the article is about right. 3 1/2 inches or so is what I was thinking. I have never had to set up a scope,so I couldnt remember. But I really cant forget the results of eye relief not being correct. This was long ago,but My shooting bud back then showed up to go shooting with dark glasses and a bandaid above his right eye. After some poking and proding and joking around,he admitted being BIT by a New to him Scope .It was either a Lepold or Redfield 20X that was about as long as the Parker-Hale he had it mounted on.
OK so much for my stories Thanks
ROGER
