POA for charging (or stationary) dogs and bears?
Charging Bears--
Ive read to aim at the nose, center chest and shoulder (shoulder is with a long gun I assume). Charging Dogs-- I've read to aim between the eyes, chest and a quartering shot into a shoulder (from Basic Gunfighing 101 -- after luring them to the off hand side). After a family reunion last weekend we shot the charging Pitbull Drill from Basic Gunfighting 101 with 2 liter soda bottles, Gal milk jugs and ballons. Later we did some where the target was at about 15-20 ft crossing fast at 90 deg. I've been working on pointshooting (Quick Kill) for several months inaddition to FSP. QK was quicker and better than FSP on the crossing targets and just a little better and quicker on charging targets. YMMV

Center of Mass of the moving furry blur. Animal attacks are fast. You aren't going to have time to pick a target and aim for it.
Front sight COM of what's headed your way and shoot until it stops.

Animal attacks are VERY fast. A bear can go 35 mph.Hitting the head risks deflection from the curved skull. I might try to shoot into the open mouth but I wonder if I'd be quick enough. A bear or pit bull are very tough and a shot to a vital point is necessary to stop them.
