New-Used Rem 700 .223

Well, my son finally got his rifle....

He & I have been looking around while he was busy saving his money.

I happened to overhear a conversation between one of the regular sales guys and a customer. He was shopping for an AR & discussing what he had for a trade in. I asked if I might have a look see before he did the trade thing. The sales guy was more than happy not to have to do the extra paperwork on the trade in.

Gun being traded in on an AR was a Rem 700 SPSS varmint model in .223 synthetic stock & stainless steel. Bases, rings & hard case.

I paid $500

I was happy. Got a good gun. Didn't pay tax.

The sales guy at the store was happy. He didn't have to do extra paperwork on the trade in.

The customer was also happy. He ended up going home with the AR that he wanted.

My son is happy too...but, then what kid wouldn't be happy...bringing home his first centerfire rifle...

Good deal. I have the ADL Varmint in 308. They are shooters.

You did super well Dad and I can see why you son is tickled pink as they say. I have only one Remington a Model 700 CDL in 35 Whelen and it's a great rifle. My local gunsmith did a trigger adjustment on it for only $10 and it really made the trigger sweet by the way.

Lose the windage adjustable bases,feed it H-335 behind 50gr V-max and it will assuredly dazzle.

Keep waiting for them to twist them all at least 1-9"...................

I have a kid this morning that is chomping at the bit to put rounds down range in his "new" gun. Unfortunately he will have to wait a little longer...I'm not going to let him shoot it till he has earned enough $$ to buy glass for it. Than...I guess he needs ammo...he did give me that "look" when I told that I was not buying center fire ammo...I told him I'm happy to buy as much 22 rim fire as the kids wanted to shoot. But, I'm not buying center fire ammo.

I tell me kids they can shoot whatever they want,as often as they want,if the load the ammo. An 8yr old can drive a Dillon 550B,when inspired in such a manner.

Gotta keep 'em busy on singlestage stuff too,even if it is only Lapua brass stuffed with 155 Scenars for another boring 308.

Get the little guys ringing 500yd steel and they are a bit more excited about hitting the press..............

My oldest has been working saturdays washing trucks making money...he stayed focused for a while then started getting distracted on saving his money. I've had to keep him "on track" the last 3-4 months. I kept telling him that the right gun will eventually show up at the right price. Now he's got more "stuff" that he needs before he can shoot this gun.

All 4 of my kids love to shoot. In fact they love all things firearms... I always have help weather it be going to the gun store, stapling targets, picking up brass, hauling gear in/out.

I actually end up with almost zero range time to my self.

The kids don't walk around the house in helmets either,or have blue parking stickers on their bikes....................
