Mental Preparations

This forum is constantly discussing one or more scenario. We think about it, pose possible actions, or critique actions people actually took. What about general, overall mental preparation? We all think we're sheepdogs, yes?

The link contains probably the very best definition of Sheep, Wolves, and Sheepdogs i've ever read. I've heard of Col Grossman, and his book, but never read it. It is definitely going on my Christmas list. Enjoy: http://www.killology.com/sheep_dog.htm

How many of you have read his book? What other good reads on the subject can you recommend?

Thanks. I read the article during lunch and it was well written.

While I have no professional sheep dog experience I have many
family members who are "pros" (both veteran and current soldiers and retired
and active LEOs) and over the years their experiences and stories have
left an impression on me.

That impression relates to the part of the article where the statement
is made,

"You should always think when / what related to taking certain actions and not thinking in a mode of if / what

I certainly agree with that principle with regard to mental preparations.

I worked in home security for a few years and I went on many calls which were leads given to top sales people where someone had recently either been broken into (at home), or intruders had tried to get in or one of a dozen other eye opening stories / situations had transpired.

When / what is a little more sensible that If / what IMHO

Well, he got part of it right. A sheep dog either looks like a wolf or a sheep. But what about rams? And wild sheep?
