I've seen a couple of those before, but the mods shut them down post haste. They really do it as quickly as they can. I really have great respect for what the mods do, considering they aren't getting paid. They do it out of integrity for the forums.

I don't see anything wrong with it if done in good taste.

WildAlaska does so in good taste, so does K-Man, as do many of the other folks such as holster makers and such.

I haven't seen any real spammers here... most folks just have a single line in their signature for business contact in case someone is interested.

There are a number of sig lines on TFL promoting political agenda, various websites, businesses, and other self interests. Wildalaska is a full participating member here and does not seem to come here for his business only.

Wanna see some members that come here for profit only? Go to the Buy and Sell Forums and see the usernames with 1 post ... or 3 posts all in the same thread. Or click on a username and then on "Find More Posts By ____" and see how many post there are all in the "Buy and Sell" fora.

I have never bought anything from Wildalaska, but I would not hesitate, reading his feedback.

So, bobhwry, what's the problem ... ? I mean if it came down to it, Rich could establish a business relationship with Wild or any other business if that was his wish. It happens to not be true, but what's it to ya? You buy stock in TFL?

Good answer, Bud.

To address your question, "Any restrictions??": Yes. The Firing Line reserves the right to delete any advertisement deemed inappropriate in the B,S&T forums or in signature lines. We tend to dispatch spammers without delay and without mercy.

Hope this answers your question.

bobhwry - I never would have guessed that was the basis of your complaint. I thought maybe it was going to be about the phone spammers or some such.

Yes, I'm positive there is. And that commercial agenda has yielded a whole passel of satisfied TFL'ers who have bought various items from Ken in his group sales over the years. I see nothing wrong with that; it's one of those win-win things.

I fail to understand why it's a problem.

Of course, having bought a P7PSP from WildBuyMyGunsPleaseAlaska for a very good price, I'm not going to do too much beeching...

And to show my heart WAS in the right place, of the 50-60 PSPs that were blown out at a very good price, not one ended up permanently to yers truly.

Mike wanna sell it back ?

"Mike wanna sell it back?"

Uhm....

Not really.

I first shot one of the P7s back in the early 1980s, and fell in love with it. I always wanted one, but they were always far too expensive.

When you came across with that deal I really couldn't afford it, but I figured that I couldn't afford not to get in on it.

It was a very simple question, I thought!! If you are allowed to promote a business, links, religious icons, websites, etc that's fine. I just wanted to know what the limitations were if any. So, I guess if you keep it to your sig line anything goes?
Bud, how does a "fully participating member" differ from the rest of us???

I think 'fully participating member' means someone who posts to more than just the 'for sale' boards. You post to more than just the sale area, right? So you would be a full participating member as well.

Have you noticed that post counts from the for sale boards don't count to your user posts?

It was a fair question, spurred by what I feel was a poor example.

Mostly true, with the possible exception of the religious icons, but even those, in moderation, are acceptable. A single link to one of the above is usually the norm. Common sense will usually dictate whether someones signature is over the line. There are no hard and fast rules for signature content.

spacemanspiff answered the "fully participating member" question correctly. (No points for that, sms, it was only a sample test question. )

With that said, TFL is quite gracious with those who only peruse the for sale boards. There is a wealth of good deals to be had.
