Big long list of anti-gun people, companies, and organizations

The NRA recently released a long list of people and organizations, from celebrities to journalists who are actively trying to diminish and even abolish your 2nd Ad. rights. While many of those listed are no brainers, it is a refresher course to help us be a little more aware of the antis we did not know previously.

List can be seen here:

http://dailycaller.com/2012/03/01/th...ho-hates-guns/

In can only help us to be just a little more vigilant in determining where our money goes to. The corporate list was an eye-opener for me. Levi-Strauss???

I can't say that anyone on the "celebrity" list shocked me. I would wager a guess that there are more than a few of them, though, that cary a gun on their person or have someone close to them that does.

The one that did shock me some is Silver Dollar City. I have been around Pete Herschend many times and would never have guessed this.

I have never been much of a movie fan or such. I guess to me movie stars are like Court Jesters in the old days. Usually are nothing more than Entertainers for the bored. I put no credibility in there words or actions. Very simply-They are there for my entertainment purpose only. They hold no higher respect than Tom,Dick or Harry.

They don't have real jobs so they get bored and try to become activists. I'd be a celebrity if I had the chance though.

Levi Strauss... wow, never would have guessed.

Pity though, I like their jeans.

Nothing else really is a surprise on that list. I thought it'd be longer.

That's a major chunk of Hollywood. I did not see Charlize Theron, who might understand the issues, based on the huge growth of crime in one or two South African cities and the resultant home fortifications and guns required. She is South African and speaks Afrikaans (on Youtube).

It's ironic that so many organizations and actors on that list are of a certain ethnic or religious persuasion, and all of them should know better about disarmament and monstrous mass murder, based on history.

Everybody on that list makes a career in a world of fantasy and pretension.

Merci beau coup.

Anybody else find it ironic that a civil rights group like the NAACP and ACLU would be anti-gun?

I don't really understand why anyone would be surprised to see any actor or musician on the list. They live their lives and make their fortunes pretending to be something that they are not. This goes for politicians as well for the most part.

I used to like Springsteen's music, but recently got so disgusted with him that I chunked all his cds and tapes I had in the trash.

Some nice quotes to go with some of the more hypocritical members of that list:

Quote:

Mark Wahlberg - Convicted of attempted murder, assault, and multiple other crimes. “Certainly, I haven’t used a gun anywhere other than on a movie set and I’d like to see if we could take them all away.”

Sean Connery - In the UK handgun ban ad campaign: “It is said that a total ban on handguns, including .22s, would take away innocent pleasure from thousands of people. Is that more or less pleasure than watching your child grow up?”

Arnold Swarzenegger - “I’m for gun control. I’m a peace-loving guy.” ... that made 90% of my money on films where I blow people to pieces.

Sylvester Stallone - (UK interview, responding to a murder) “Until America, door to door, takes every handgun, this is what you’re gonna have. It’s pathetic. It really is pathetic. It’s sad. We’re living in the Dark Ages over there.” ...says the man most recognized for pounding faces on one hand, and spraying lead with an M60 in the other.

Jon St. Jon - (Duke Nukem voice actor) “I don’t care for guns in general. It bothers me in this country how free we are to bear arms. They say ‘Guns don’t kill people, people kill people’ – well, no, I think people with guns kill people. Quite frankly I’d like to see stronger gun laws in this country.”

Daniel Craig - "I hate handguns. Handguns are used to shoot people and as long as they are around, people will shoot each other. That's a simple fact. ... Bullets have a nasty habit of finding their target and that's what's scary about them."

Nothing like sanctimonious posturing from a bunch of hypocrites. Most of those individuals are my list of PIPNATs-People I Pay No Attention To.

How can an actor from the Expendables be considered an actor?

Yet another reason for me to not like Kevin Bacon. I've hated that guy since the movie Footloose.

Seriously though, I am not surprised by all of the hollywood people. They are just cowards and will side with whatever is popular at the moment.

Sly Stallone's "Bullet to the Head" is in theatres Feb 1st, 2013.

I saw the previews: lots of jokes after people getting killed by Sly

While I understand taking most of Hollywood to task over hypocrisy (such as George Clooney flying from LA to DC by chartered jet to testify before Congress about excessive American fuel consumption), I feel compelled to point out that merely portraying violence does not automatically make an anti-gun actor a hypocrite.

As Roger Ebert would say, it is not what a movie is about, it is how the movie goes about being about it.

Take Lee Marvin for an example. Decorated Marine WWII vet, with injury to a sciatic nerve from a Japanese machine gun bullet ending his combat tour. Marvin did not like guns, and was vocal about it. Therefore, one of his criteria for accepting a part was that violence should always be depicted as ugly. Marvin's movies, even The Dirty Dozen, would have at least one scene that would make most viewers cringe (for instance, the stabbing of the woman by Telly Savalas, or the killing of the General staff's spouses by grenades and fire).

Gratuitous violence, such as portrayed by Stallone, is another matter.

The Expendables makes violence look more fun than a Call of Duty game. Totally different

I agree. My point was that while many if not most are hypocrites, some are artists.

We don't believe actors who commit rapes in movies are actually rapists, do we? And we would not accuse Jodie Foster of glamourizing rape in The Accused.

On the other hand, I did find her The Brave One to be hypocritical.

But it is too easy, and not necessarily accurate nor productive, to say any actor who has been in movies with guns is a hypocrite if he or she is an anti.
