How old is my Mossberg?

Hello. I hope this in the correct forum. I have recently purchased a Mossberg 500A shotgun. It is more like a riot gun. It has a the long magazine tube and a twenty inch barrel. I was wandering how old it is. I searched this site over, and even googled it on the internet. Nothing comes up on a code for the serial number like Remington has. If anyone knows please let me know.Thanks for the help.

If you send an email to Mossberg with the serial number and your question, they'll send you the info you want.

You can do this via the contact page on their website.

I did email them before I posted. I guess they are busy and have not yet had time to respond.
