Remington 700 value?

I have a 1977 Remington 700 in 7mm mag. It's in very good condition. Trying to put a value on it.......

I'd go on Armslist and see what they are going for. My guess, going off 30-06s, is $450-650, depending on who is asking. Speaking from my bowels, around $500. Anything used, is what a person will pay, and how long you want to sit on it.

I was looking at that era 700 n 30-06 around $400 couple weeks ago. Was temped for a project. Nothing wrong with it.

7mm mag might be more thant 30-06, since they are so common around here.

ADL, BDL, condition, etc.? I like to find a brand new one as close as possble to the exact model I have and see what it is selling for. Used will usually be 50%-70% of what new would cost. The condition would determine 50% vs 70%.

Go to any Walmart. They usually have a book racked called >The Blue Book of Gun Values. "No problem with your perusing a book is there?"

Same with Barnes & Noble... but I think the Blue Books are sealed. They have other books, though.

"Very Good Condition" means different things- especially with a magnum.

When selling a rifle, it helps to have its "history". Round count...factory ammo or handloads?

It takes a borescope to tell if the throat on a magnum is burned out and the barrel requires re-chambering or replacement. On a magnum rifle of "unknown" history, without examination, I value it as though the barrel is shot out.

Another option is to get it appraised... gun shows sometimes have people there.

The Blue Book of Gun Values is at least 2 years out of date(takes that long to compile and publish any book) and reflects averages from all over the U.S. with no regard for local supply and demand. Be a big ball park guestimate. Even then it's got every possible M700 ever made listed, on-line.
One of the auction sites or taking it in to a shop(get you the wholesale value) will be better.
You do need to provide more info though. And this time of year isn't a good time to be trying to sell a 7mm Mag. Where you are matters too.

On the quick you could take it to a bigger sporting goods store that buys guns and see what they will give you. Then multiply the value by 1.66 because most places will only give you 60% of it's value.

Or they will tell you the value straight up and then say all they can give is 60% of that.

If it's for insurance value add another $100 so you're not under insured.

I am not sure how good the appraisal books are.

Just like selling a car, you need to see what the are going for.

With arms list you don't know if the haggled, but good starting point.

Easiest thing to do is go on gunbroker and see what they are bringing.
Put a few similar rifles on your "watch list" and see what they end at.

I havent seen a 700 locally in any caliber go for less than $375ish even in very well used condition.
270 and 30-06 seem to be the lower priced ones on GB right now with 243, 7mm08 and 308 being on the higher end.
