Installing Kick Eez, Should I cut Stock?

I have a 70's to 80's vintage Remington 1100, that has a curved butt plate on it, I'm trying to install a Kick Eez Recoil pad that is straight...

Should I try to cut the stock straight to install the pad...??

Am I undertaking too much of a project?

Any hints? Advice?

Thanks in advance...

I think you have the wrong pad - but no, don't cut the stock. You need to have someone look at it - to make sure you have the right pad ( they make a bunch of different styles, thicknesses, etc). Almost all pads require some fitting - but it's usually the overall size of the phenolic pad that sits under the kick eez pad that you grind down to fit the stock. If the wood stock is curved, then you need a phenolic plate and a kick eez pad to conform to the curve. But most wood stocks are straight - and it's the pad that is curved - like on a Browning XT. So without looking at a photo it's hard to imagine what you have there.

The original butt plate is just plastic with a curve about 1/8 inch thick, attached to a wood curve stock with the same curve....

Thank you...
