6.5 creedmor reloader 17 123g eld-m loads

not having any luck with the h4350 i decided to pick up a pound of reloader 17 and decided to try it out in my new creed

looking pretty good so far and im no longer hurting brass/primers at 2750+ fps

first 15 rounds look like this this mainly a test just to see if i was going to hurt primers or brass wasnt trying to be really accurate

41.8 g looks promising so i loaded up 5 more at that to actually go for accuracy since i now know im not over presure or hurting primers at that load
and then i loaded up 5 more at 42.5g which should put me up above 3000fps to try and see what those do ( the load data i have is calling for 43.3g as max )

sellior and belliot brass is what im using atm and is what i was having issues with with the h4350

shooting a lil slow today ima chalk that up to the cold temps/snow weather

41.8 shot
2832
2869
2855
2832
2837

42.5 shot
2915
2893
2903
2906
2902

both loads grouped just like the 41.8g group pictured above so i dont even bother taking a picture

brass and primers looked great 42.5 so ill wait till a warmer day and try that load again and maybe creep up a lil from there

Looks good thus far.
One thing i've noticed in using RL17 with my 7mm-08, is that once you reach that optimal charge, velocities will actually start dropping off.

I was getting 100 fps faster with RL17 than any other powder i tested. Even close to same burn rate.

ty ill have to keep that in mind while i continue to work my way up

once i get this load worked up im going to try the r17 with some either 95g vmax or varmagedons

its not looking like i can go wrong with this powder at any charge within the ranges ive tested so far though

Dropping velocity with increase in charge, if it is consistent and not just random statistical evet, is actually one of the many pressure signs. It suggests the steel that makes up the chamber is starting to stretch, enlarging the powder space. Usually, sticky bolt lift follows. But there are other causes possible.

The new Winchester StaBALL 6.5 powder looks very promising and might be worth a try here. It was developed for the 6.5 Creedmoor.

My new creed does not like the mm bullets so far perfect group with the eld m again
The test with the 42.3 g of 4350 on once fired brass shows presure signs
The r-17 brass and primers look perfect ill take a picture in a bit
Doing all this inbetween tasks at work lol

if you have any 4831 SC around give it a try also. I had a .260 Rem that loved it with 140 gn Nosler CC's. Varget worked well with the 120 gn bullets. I don't worry about speed as much as accuracy so if this is for a hunting rifle disregard

yeah normally i wouldnt be worried about getting fps , but groups have not opened up at all as ive made my way up from 2800 to almost 3000fps so im going after as fast as i can get them going while being accurate

my grendel on the other hand i can push those to almost 2600fps but ive back it down to 2470 were it shoots .438 groups at 100 , at 2600 fps it opened up to the .650 group range

i loaded some more tonight at a set of 5 at 43g and i did another set of 5 back at 41.8 im pretty sure at this point that theres no more fps gains to be had at much over 41.8

so i got 100 ish fps with the 1.2g increase in charge , ended up loading 5 rounds at 43.5

fps is slightly faster then my load data and load data is showing 44g as max those next 5 rounds i loaded tonight should be leaving the barrel at 3100 if my load data holds true
ill chrono those tommorow and check for group size at 100y if the group size holds as it has been i load up a few more to try out at 500 and 1000y+

so far every load i have tried has been shooting great groups so if i can get the extra velocity out of them without hurting anything ima take it

been trimming and preping a bunhc of brass all night for 2 of the creeds and one of my grendels
