what is the most destructive ammo 223 coming out of a mini14 tac.

what are you shooting it at ?? if its cats i would sugest a balistic tip for the quick expansion of the round but if its for deer i would sugest hollow or lead tip for the slower expansion and deeper penatration it qall depends on what you are shooting

Anything in Hornady's V-Max line would be great. The NTX line also, I think. Anything loaded with Barnes "Varmint Grenade". Mostly, if it's 223 and it's ballistic/polymer tip then it's going to do a number on small critters. Most hollow points will also work just fine. The heavier bullets might be made specifically to NOT fragment, which is the opposite of what you want. If it's labeled "frangible" or "varmint", or any of the above, that's the ticket.

While 40-grain bullets lose velocity rather quickly, they'll make a wondrous mess on little stuff like prairie dogs. For all practical purposes, any bullet of 55 grains or under will work just fine.

+1 on V-Max's and Varmint Grenades. TNT's and just about all of them are pretty good, but they are all kinda limited to just how big of a mess they can make out of critters. If the jacket is too thin, or there is too big of a cavity behind the polymer thing- the bullet will come apart before it gets to the target or it will develop horrible wobble-osis.

on a side note .45 powerball does wonders on raccoons, did not have time to get the mini14 out

I reload 55 grain Nosler Ballistic tips for my AR and they make a pretty darn good red spot out of gophers, rockchucks, racoons, or pretty much anything that size. But for the factory ammo loaded with the NBT's its pretty pricey...
on another side note the .300 win mag with 165gr soft points with make minced meat of rabbits......

Best I remember the Mini has a slow twist. Stay below 50gr if you can.
