Just yesterday I met a nice older fellow dressed in slacks, shirt and a tie. He was carrying a Glock as well. He was also carrying an FBI badge.

...And to be honest, between the stuffed suit / tie events and the camo attired ones, I'd rather go to the camo events. Good people , great food and a good time is mandatory..of course, wearing a new set of camo's and your best BBQ gun was must. |

I grew up out between Watertown and Waterford, in Washington County.
The more unusual wedding I attended was our nephew's, it was held out at Rinard Mills covered bridge, out North of Marietta. We then retired back to their house for a chili cookout, cooked in an old iron kettle over a bonfire. In the middle of the summertime. Perhaps they hadn't thought out the cuisine appropriate for the weather? I know what you mean, I've enjoyed the parties held out in the country much more than any fancy deal where you had to dress up. Out near where I grew up, they had 2 different party places. One, a 40' diameter silo, that we always called the "Hacker Club." If you couldn't "hack it", don't come! There was also Heiss's Holler, it was well equipped. They bought up an old walk-in cooler, and had the beer tap installed on the outside of it. They also had a couple of deep friers set up for fish fry's, a full gas flat-top grill, all under cover. They even had enough room under roof for a pretty decent sized dance floor, for square dances. |

Reminds me of the day my shirt rode a little high in a resturant. My wife said a lady had crossed the room to LEO's eating at another table was talking to them and pointing at me. (Being half deaf, I couldn't hear what was going on.)
Wife said she's telling them I'm armed, then, that both had turned around and were looking hard. After a brief consultaion with each other, one saaid I appeared to be carrying a S&W and told her "No need to worry Ma'am, that's a good gun to carry." Wife had a hard time not laughing as the lady went back to her table.

Cool story Bob. I know in real life you're the Force Recon Sniper that Marky Mark's character in Shooter was based on, and all the people who know what they're doing carry the pistol you carry.

I got one bad 2X4. Glock 20 SF (10mmX16) with the long slide and compensator, and, and, and waiting for the rest of the goodies to come in the mail today. Pics coming soon.
Tacticool is the objective. It's my show off gun for the range. "look at me and my junked up Glock" It will go well with my junked up S&W R8 M&P .357 8 shot revolver. They both come in any color you'd like as long as it's black. |

Of course the opposite version of this thread could be "I met a 1911 shooter today who wasn't an old fat guy."

Hey now...easy there Bob, I'm a (relatively) old fat guy, and I have both...

...that version would have been just as narrow minded as the original. With the overtone of the way this thread started out, it's surprising it has stayed open. Other then the OP admitting he met a Glock owner that didn't fit the narrow description of what he thought all Glock owners are, just can't see where this thread can possibly be of any positive benefit. Of course I did get to have a nice pm'd conversation with stickhauler. |

Yeah, what is the point of this thread besides wasting server bandwidth?

It is so American, meeting a man in a Coffee shop, and talking guns!
In Canada, don't talk to man next to you, period. England? What is a Glock? Here in Florida, talk to every one! About anything. One time worked in a Jewelery store for my Son, he owns a Security Co. Glock 19 in holster "Oh my God, is that a real gun? Is it loaded?" She was a Londoner, when I replied to her, in the affirmative, the Husband said "A Scouse with a loaded gun!" An ethnic comment! People from Liverpool are to be avoided, without guns! Sat here in my 511 tan pants. And Glock 19, spare G17 Mag, and Surefire. This is my Birth month, 77 on the 27th, US Citizen, as of last April, 2011. Great Country this America. |

So since I carry a Glock I guess that means I am a tool without a clue? Brilliant!

Ok, I think this one's done because the point was lost on many.
The point is that a person's choice of guns does not define them.
